A recent press release sent by ISO has February 2018 as the expected publication date for the new ISO 45001 standard.
This, of course, is pending the results of a January 25, 2018 ballot. The previous ballot resulted in an 88% approval and the upcoming ballot in January is expected to produce more support for the standard. The final draft of the standard will be issued at the end of November 2017.
The ISO 45001 standard is an international regulation for occupational health and safety that will provide a framework to improve employee safety, reduce work-related injury and risks, and prevent ill health and death. The intended outcome of the standard will be to provide safer working conditions all across the globe.
The ISO 45001 standard will follow the same management system approach as ISO 14001 and ISO 9001, including the High Level Structure, that helps with management system integration. It will also take into consideration other International Standards such as OHSAS 18001, the International Labour Organization’s guidelines on occupational safety and health management systems, along with various other national standards.
