ISO 9001:2015 has now replaced ISO 9001:2008.
Since it has been revised to meet the needs of today’s business world, it is recommended that you update your quality management system to fit the new version, and since every organization is different, the steps needed to adjust your management system are likely to be unique to your situation.
If your organization is certified to ISO 9001:2008 and you wish to maintain your certification to ISO 9001, you will need to upgrade your quality management system to the new edition of the standard and, although organizations are encouraged to transfer as soon as possible, you have three (3) years to transition to the 2015 version. This means that, at the end of September 2018, a certificate to ISO 9001:2008 will no longer be valid.
If your organization is not yet certified, you can apply for ISO 9001:2008 for 18 months after the release of ISO 9001:2015, which was September 23, 2015.
