Description

ISO 9001:2015 establishes the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS) focused on consistently delivering products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements while enhancing customer satisfaction.

In this course, participants are introduced to the history and evolution of ISO 9001, including major revisions and the shift toward risk-based thinking and leadership accountability. The course explains the standard’s structure based on the common ISO framework and provides a practical breakdown of Clauses 4 through 10—the auditable requirements.

Participants will gain a working understanding of key concepts such as organizational context, leadership, planning, support, operations, performance evaluation, and continual improvement. The course also introduces the certification process, including internal audits, management review, and registrar audits.

This course is ideal for individuals seeking a foundational understanding of ISO 9001 and how it is applied in real-world organizations.

Learning Objectives​

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose and scope of ISO 9001:2015 and its role in quality management systems.
  • Describe the evolution of ISO 9001, including key revisions (1987, 1994, 2000, 2008, and 2015).
  • Identify the structure of ISO 9001 based on the common ISO framework and distinguish between auditable and non-auditable clauses.
  • Understand the requirements of Clauses 4 through 10, including:
    • Context of the organization
    • Leadership and customer focus
    • Risk-based planning and objectives
    • Support processes (resources, competence, documented information)
    • Operational controls
    • Performance evaluation (audits, management review, customer satisfaction)
    • Improvement (nonconformity and corrective action, continual improvement)
  • Recognize the role of risk-based thinking and leadership accountability in ISO 9001:2015.
  • Understand the difference between certification and accreditation and the roles of registrars and accreditation bodies.
  • Describe the steps required to achieve ISO 9001 certification, including implementation, internal audit, management review, and external audits.
  • Identify the benefits of ISO 9001 certification, including improved consistency, reduced redundant audits, and enhanced credibility.

Prerequisites​

  • No prior ISO experience is required.

  • A basic understanding of business processes and quality concepts is helpful but not necessary.

  • Designed for beginners, managers, or staff who are new to ISO 9001.

Successful Completion​
