Description

This combined offering uses API Q1 Practitioner and API Q2 Practitioner training materials developed by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and provided to Mireaux under a royalty agreement. Mireaux serves as the authorized training provider, delivering instruction, facilitating discussions, and guiding participants through practical activities.

The five-day delivery follows Q1 as its foundation and introduces Q2 requirements alongside the corresponding topics. Participants examine where the specifications align and where distinct controls are needed for products, services, and service-related products.

The API-developed curricula address the specifications’ intent and requirements, including guidance on documentation, implementation, and recordkeeping. Topics include QMS responsibilities, planning, risk, design, purchasing, product realization, service execution, monitoring, and improvement.

Practical activities and Practitioner workshops focus on:

  • Risk assessment and management
  • Contingency planning
  • Management of change
  • Product quality planning and Service Quality Plans
  • Process validation and service performance validation

Through instructor-led discussion, practical exercises, and course tests, participants develop the knowledge and application skills needed to support Q1 and Q2 implementation within their organizations.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the scope, structure, and applicability of API Q1 and API Q2, including shared requirements and key differences.
  • Translate QMS requirements into responsibilities, procedures, documentation, and records for product and service organizations.
  • Apply contract review, planning, design, purchasing, and supplier-control requirements.
  • Evaluate operational risks and develop risk controls, contingency plans, and management-of-change actions.
  • Relate product quality planning to Service Quality Plans and establish appropriate execution controls.
  • Evaluate maintenance, inspection, testing, measurement, process validation, and service performance validation arrangements.
  • Determine controls for nonconforming products, services, and service-related products.
  • Use monitoring, internal audits, corrective action, and management review to assess and improve the QMS.
  • Distinguish relevant API Monogram and registration concepts and identify implementation priorities.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with quality management systems and manufacturing or service operations is helpful. Participants new to these subjects are encouraged to complete document-control training and ISO 9001 implementation training, or have equivalent experience.
