Turn ISO 45001 requirements into an OH&S management system that protects people and strengthens performance. Through realistic examples, workshops, and implementation tools, participants leave with a clear path to build or strengthen an effective, certification-ready system.

Description

ISO 45001 Implementation provides a practical, clause-by-clause path for establishing, maintaining, and improving an occupational health and safety management system aligned with ISO 45001:2018. Participants learn how to move from understanding requirements to making defensible decisions about context, worker needs, hazards, legal and other requirements, OH&S risks and opportunities, objectives, operational controls, emergency preparedness, performance evaluation, and improvement.

The course emphasizes the people and operational realities that determine whether an OH&S management system succeeds. Participants examine leadership accountability, consultation and participation of workers, the hierarchy of controls, procurement and contractor risks, management of change, competence, communication, documented information, incident investigation, and corrective action.

Built on Mireaux’s proven experience implementing and auditing management systems, this course covers:

  • What ISO 45001 requires
  • How to implement the requirements practically
  • How to audit the OH&S management system for conformity and effectiveness

Using realistic examples, Quick Sound Checks, case-study workshops, Learning Checkpoints, Web QMS demonstrations, and an Implementation Checklist, participants practice translating clauses into responsibilities, processes, controls, records, and measurable evidence. The course connects implementation decisions to the evidence auditors and certification bodies expect, helping participants leave with a structured roadmap they can adapt to their organization.

The result is more than standards knowledge. Participants gain a practical foundation for protecting workers, supporting compliance, strengthening safety culture, improving OH&S performance, and preparing an organization for ISO 45001 certification.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the structure, intent, and connected requirements of ISO 45001:2018.
  • Determine organizational context, worker and interested-party needs, OH&S management system scope, and applicable processes.
  • Establish leadership accountability, OH&S policy commitments, roles, and effective worker consultation and participation.
  • Identify hazards, evaluate OH&S risks and opportunities, determine legal and other requirements, and plan actions and measurable objectives.
  • Design support and operational processes for resources, competence, awareness, communication, documented information, procurement, contractors, management of change, and emergency preparedness.
  • Evaluate OH&S performance through monitoring, measurement, compliance evaluation, internal audit, and management review.
  • Respond to incidents and nonconformities with effective correction, root cause analysis, corrective action, and continual improvement.
  • Use practical tools and implementation evidence to assess gaps, prioritize next steps, and support ISO 45001 certification readiness.

Prerequisites

No formal prerequisite is required. Basic familiarity with your organization’s operations, workplace hazards, safety responsibilities, or management system processes is helpful.
