Created by the American Petroleum Institute (API), the 2.5-Day API Q1, 10th Edition Fundamentals course, teaches the stringent requirements of the API Specification Q1, 10th Edition: Specification for Quality Management System Requirements for Manufacturing Organizations for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry.

This course offers an in-depth look at the API Q1 standard, clause by clause, providing interpretation from API’s perspective, and focusing on each of the detailed requirements for documentation, implementation and record keeping.

Using “Think About It’s”, practical activities, and group workshops, this course helps attendees develop a hands-on understanding that will facilitate the successful implementation of a best-in-class Quality Management System certified to API Q1.

Practitioner

Created by the American Petroleum Institute (API), the 3.5-Day API Q1, 10th Edition Practitioner course, teaches the stringent requirements of the API Specification Q1, 10th Edition: Specification for Quality Management System Requirements for Manufacturing Organizations for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry.

This course encompasses the following:

  • 2.5-day API Q1 Fundamentals
  • 1-day hands-on practice on key areas of API Q1

The course is essentially 2.5 days of training on the standard, plus one day of training in a few key requirements of API Q1, focusing on three areas:

  • The foundation, background, and importance of API Q1.
  • In depth overview of each clause of the API Specification Q1, interpreting the requirements from API’s perspective, as well as providing the requirements for documentation, implementation and record keeping.
  • Extended hands-on practice on Risk Assessment, Contingency Planning, and Management of Change (MOC).

The API Q1, 10th Edition Fundamentals training course does not have any prerequisite courses.

For individuals with little or no previous knowledge of API Q1 or Quality Management Systems who would like to maximize their knowledge; we recommend Mireaux’s Fundamentals of Document Control class as a preamble and introduction to management systems, followed by an ISO 9001:2015 course (Implementation or Internal Auditor).

  • Importance of API
  • Overview and Exclusions
  • Clause 4: Quality Management Systems Requirements
  • Clause 5: Product Realization
  • Clause 6: Quality Management System Monitoring and Measurement

This course can be delivered via:

  • Public Training via Live Stream
  • Private Training at your facility, via Live Stream, or both

Live Stream Participants will need the following tools to effectively complete this course:

  • Computer or laptop with MS Windows software or operating system compatible with MS Teams
  • Audio and Visual equipment (i.e., webcam, microphone, headset, etc.)
  • Strong Internet Connection

Participants will receive electronic comprehensive reference material, including:

  • Training Course Workbook
  • Practical Examination exercises, or Workshops
  • Training copy of the API Q1 specification

Live Stream: Training course material will be provided to participants electronically, 3 to 5 days prior to the start of training, via MS Teams and SharePoint links to the email address provided at the time of registration.

In-Person: Printed training course material will be provided to participants on the first day of their arrival.

The duration of this course is 2.5 days, as follows:

  • Day 1              8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (CST)
  • Day 2              8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (CST)
  • Day 3              8:30 AM to 12:30 PM (CST)

Participants’ successful completion of the course is determined by:

  • A practical examination or Workshops completed and reviewed at various stages throughout the duration of the course to ensure participant’s comprehension of the subject matter taught.
  • Completion of Test.

A Certificate of Completion is provided to all participants upon successful completion of the course. The Certificate awards a total of 1.35 CEUs to participants who attend the entire duration of the course and pass the Test with a minimum score of 80%.

API-U courses are certified by IACET. Participants attending this course will receive an API-U Certificate of Completion to enhance their employment potential.
